We have heard recently that the ports in China are once again getting backed up as we head into the 4th quarter of 2011. Reports have stated that containers that arrived in July are just now getting to yards. Other issues include the change in duty structure, customs requiring to watch containers be unloaded in the consignee’s yard and the enforcement of quota limits on the importing companies.
The above concerns coupled with the falling commodity markets tend to make one wonder if larger claims than usual are on the horizon. It is our opinion that all parties exporting to China should proceed with extreme caution moving forward.
